Ordinazione sacerdotale a Del\u00e9mont il 28 giugno 1967, 1967 &#8211; 1977 Vicario a St. Marien (Berna) e St. Josef (Basilea), 1977 &#8211; 1987 Parroco di Heiliggeist Basilea. Eletto vescovo ausiliare di Basilea dal papa Giovanni Paolo II\u00b0 il 3 febbraio 1987. Riceve l&#8217;ordinazione episcopale a Basilea il 28 maggio 1987.
