Dal 1984 vive come monaco all&#8217;abbazia di Einsiedeln. Dopo gli studi di teologia a Einsiedeln e St. Meinrad\/USA (1984-1988), \u00e8 ordinato sacerdote il 25 giugno 1988. Dal 1989 al 1992 studia la psicologia a Roma conseguendo la licenza. Il 10 novembre 2001 \u00e8 eletto 58\u00b0 abate del convento di Einsiedeln e nominato dal papa Giovanni Paolo II\u00b0 il 17 novembre 2001. La consacrazione abbaziale ha luogo il 16 dicembre 2001.
