September 1950 in Epauvillers, Kanton Jura, studierte am Kollegium von Saint-Maurice, danach an der Universit\u00e4t Freiburg (Schweiz), wo er 1975 seine Studien mit dem Lizentiat in Theologie abschloss. Er wurde am 16. Mai 1976 zum Priester geweiht. Nach Vikar-Stellen in Bassecourt (1976-1980) und Saint-Imier (1980-1983) wurde er Pfarrer in Malleray-B\u00e9vilard (1985-1997). 1997 wurde er zum Bischofsvikar f\u00fcr den franz\u00f6sischsprachigen Teil des Bistums Basel ernannt. Er wurde am 17. April 2000 zum Weihbischof des Bistums Basel ernannt und am 22. Juni 2000 von Bischof Dr. Kurt Koch in der Kathedrale in Solothurn zum Bischof geweiht. Mgr. Theurillat ist Titularbischof von Tubulbaka und residierender Domherr des Standes Bern. Er ist seit 2011 Mitglied des Pr\u00e4sidiums der SBK.<\/p>\n<p>Die Emeritierung als Weihbischof von Basel erfolgte am 8.
